Sorrel – red sorrel, Florida cranberry, flor de Jamaica or roselle. It was introduced to Jamaica from west Asia in the 18th century. Sorrel is the fleshy young calyces (the outer floral envelope) surrounding the immature fruits. It also comes in dried form. Jamaican sorrel is very acidic and resembles cranberry in color and acidity. Jamaican Sorrel is high in vitamins and minerals with powerful antioxidant properties. It helps lower elevated blood pressure, bad cholesterol and detoxify the entire body.
